Dental implants in Chittorgarh

An implant replaces a missing tooth from the root up. A small titanium post is placed in the jawbone, the bone grows around it, and a tooth-coloured cap is fixed on top. It doesn't depend on the teeth next to it, and you don't take it out at night.

We place implants for one missing tooth, several teeth, a full mouth, and to hold dentures firmly in place.

Who implants are for

  • You've lost a tooth to decay, gum disease or an injury
  • You'd rather not have the healthy teeth next to a gap trimmed for a bridge
  • Your dentures feel loose, or you find it hard to chew with them
  • You've lost most or all of your teeth and want fixed teeth again

Most adults can have implants. We check the bone, the gums and your general health first. Diabetes needs to be under control, and smoking slows healing, so we'll talk about both at the first visit.

Not enough bone?

When a tooth has been missing for a long time, the bone under it often shrinks. That doesn't rule out an implant. We can build the bone back up with a bone graft, either at the same time as the implant or a few months before it, depending on how much bone is needed.

Types of implant treatment

Single tooth implant

One implant and one cap replace one missing tooth. The teeth on either side are left untouched.

Several missing teeth

Two or more implants can support a bridge, so you don't need one implant for every missing tooth.

Full mouth implants

A full set of fixed teeth held on a few implants in each jaw, for people who have lost most or all of their teeth.

Implant-supported dentures

Two to four implants hold a denture firmly. It clips on and doesn't slip while you eat or talk, and comes off for cleaning.

What happens, step by step

  1. 1 Check-up and X-rayWe examine the gap, the gums and the bite, and take an X-ray to see how much bone there is.
  2. 2 PlanningWe explain the options for your case, the number of visits and how long the whole treatment will take.
  3. 3 Placing the implantThe implant is placed under local anaesthesia, in a single sitting at the clinic.
  4. 4 HealingThe bone bonds with the implant over the next few months. You can usually wear a temporary tooth in the meantime.
  5. 5 Fixing the toothOnce it has healed, we take a measurement and fix the final cap, bridge or denture on the implant.

After the implant

  • Some swelling or soreness for a few days is normal. Take the medicines we prescribe.
  • Eat soft food on that side for the first week.
  • Brush and clean around the implant as carefully as your own teeth. Gum infection is the most common reason implants fail.
  • Come for check-ups so we can look at the gum and bone around the implant.

Common questions

Does getting an implant hurt?

The area is numbed, so you feel pressure during the procedure rather than pain. Most people say it was easier than they expected. Mild soreness afterwards settles in a few days.

How long does an implant last?

With good cleaning and regular check-ups, implants can last many years, often for life. The cap on top may need replacing at some point.

I was told I don't have enough bone. Can I still get an implant?

Often, yes. A bone graft can rebuild the area so the implant has enough support. The X-ray at your first visit tells us whether you need one.

Am I too old for implants?

Age alone isn't a problem. What matters is the bone, the gums and your general health, which we check first.

Implant or bridge: which is better?

A bridge needs the teeth on either side to be trimmed for caps. An implant stands on its own. We'll explain which suits your mouth after the examination.
