Dental check-ups and teeth cleaning in Chittorgarh
Most dental problems start small and quietly. A cavity that could have been a simple filling turns into a root canal, and bleeding gums turn into loose teeth. A check-up and cleaning every six months catches these early, when treatment is quicker and simpler.
What happens at a check-up
- We check every tooth for cavities, cracks and worn fillings
- We look at your gums for bleeding, swelling and pockets
- We check the tongue, cheeks and palate for any unusual patches or ulcers
- If needed, we take an X-ray to see between the teeth and below the gums
The check of the tongue and cheeks is also a simple screen for early signs of oral cancer. It matters most for anyone who uses tobacco, gutka or supari.
Scaling and polishing
Even with good brushing, hard deposits called tartar build up along the gum line, especially behind the lower front teeth. Tartar can't be brushed off. It causes bleeding gums and bad breath, and over time it loosens the teeth. Scaling removes it with an ultrasonic scaler, and polishing smooths the surface so stains and plaque don't stick as easily.
Your gums may feel a little sensitive for a day or two after scaling. That passes quickly.
Protecting children's teeth
Fluoride application
A fluoride gel or varnish painted on the teeth makes the enamel stronger and more resistant to cavities.
Pit and fissure sealants
A thin protective coating on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, where food gets stuck and cavities often start.
Habits that keep teeth healthy
- Brush twice a day for two minutes with a fluoride toothpaste
- Clean between your teeth with floss or an interdental brush
- Cut down on sweets and sugary drinks between meals
- Avoid tobacco, gutka and supari
- Come for a check-up every six months, even when nothing hurts
Common questions
Does scaling make teeth loose or weak?
No. Scaling removes tartar that was already pushing the gums away. Teeth can feel a little different afterwards because the spaces the tartar was filling are now clean, but scaling itself doesn't weaken teeth.
Why do my gums bleed when I brush?
Bleeding gums usually mean the gums are inflamed from plaque and tartar. Keep brushing, and get your teeth cleaned. The bleeding usually settles once the tartar is gone.
How often should children see a dentist?
Every six months, starting from when the first teeth come in.
